The pitch is rectangular in shape with 38-42 m length and 18-22 m width. The lines have 8 cm width. The longer sides are called touchlines. The other opposing sides are called the goal lines.
Goals are placed at the centre of each goal-line. These consist of two upright posts placed equidistant from the corner flag posts, joined at the top by a horizontal crossbar. The inner edges of the posts must be 3 m apart, and the lower edge of the crossbar must be 2 m above the ground.
The playing area should be smooth and flat and should have a good drainage network.
Artificial turf (pile height 40-60mm) is the normal surface of play, although natural grass may also be used.
